Students of Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) have carried out Field Study Activities in Thailand, 21 – 24 April 2025. The Undip team consist of 22 students and 4 lecturer are WIdo Prananing Tyas, PhD, Maya Damayanti, PhD, Dr. Okto R. Manullang  and Eko Wiji Purwanto, SE, MPP form Pusbindiklatren Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas).

During they stay in Thailand, student and lecturer conducted several visits are :

Asian Institute of Technology located in Pathum Thani City, delegation from Undip welcomed Prof. Mokbul Morshed Ahmad (Head of Departement of Development and Sustainability) and team. Activites included presentation Prof. Malay Pamanik, spoke about ongoing research and collaboration by AIT in several country with supported International Sponsor. In this moment, delegated MURP Undip also presentation about Food Security Development in Semarang Metropolitan Area which outlined the spatial context, current conditions, issue and proposal policy, and potential benchmarking of related issues

 

 

 

 

 

 

Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) located in Bangkok, Undip Teams welcomed in FAO RAP Main Conference Room. The activity began with opening remarks and presentation by Mr. Sridar Dharmapuri as Senior Food Safety and Nutrition Officer on FAO policies regarding food management at the regional level . The event continued with a discussion on topics related to food systems transformation, urban food systems, food safety and nutrition; the nexus of climate change and food security; gender equality and food security; and digitalization in agrifood systems.

 

 

 

 

 

 

During the visit to FAO, the Undip Teams received materials related to:

  • Topic 1: Food Systems Transformation: Urban Food Systems, Food Safety and Nutrition (disampaikan oleh Ms. Meeta Punjabi Mehta, Senior Food Systems Officer, FAO)
  • Topic 2: Climate Change and Food Security Nexus (disampaikan oleh Ms. Marilique Nijmeijer, Junior Professional Officer)
  • Topic 3: Gender Equality and Food Security (disampaikan oleh Ms. Kae Mihara, Gender Officer, FAO)
  • Topic 4: Digitalization in Agrifood Systems (disampaikan oleh Mr. Aziz Elbehri, Senior Policy Officer, FAO)

Kasetsart University Kamphaeng Saen Campus and several communites served as prototypes for food security, including a shrimp farming community, rice cultivation, and product processing. These also function as study tourism centers for both Thailand and international visitors. Key learning  are shrimp farming, processing, rice cultivation, and participatory land management. Lunch was held in the community, with a menu featuring shrimp and agricultural products as local cuisine.

Kasetsart University, Kamphaeng Saen Campus, has three key areas that contribute to promoting food security: the Central Laboratory Center, the Seed Center, and the Agricultural Innovation and Technology Center. The event involving Kasetsart University was facilitated by Dr. Chainarong Srirak from the Tourism Department.

 

 

 

 

 

 

In other events, the students and lecturers also visited to Chao Phraya River, Wat Arun, and Wat Pho.
