Master of Urban and Regional Planning (MURP), Faculty of Engineering Universitas Diponegoro just launched the Fast Track Master by Research (MBR) Program on Saturday, September 18, 2021.
Master by Research has become a necessity to fill research-oriented employment demands in the field of urban and regional planning, especially functional positions either at the local government or ministry levels, as stated by the City Secretary of Semarang Municipal Government, Ir. Izwar Aminuddin, MT and Bramantyo, ST, MPWK, MSc who have long experience as a functional researcher at Housing Research and Development Center (Sumatera Region) at the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing. Master-by-Research is also relevant for those who have a passion in research. For example, those who are interested to become either lecturers or researchers at universities and other independent research institutions.
The launching was carried out by the Head of the MPURP, Wido Prananing Tyas, Ph.D. In her presentation, this fast-track program is intended to select “bright minds” among students of the Bachelor Program of Urban and Regional Planning (BPURP) at Universitas Diponegoro who have opportunities, intellectual abilities and passion in the field of research.
With this fast-track program, students can take classes or sit-ins in Semester 1 of the Master by Research (MBR)’s class since 8th semester. With this scheme, fast-track students can save one semester of time. In addition to being able to explore research and the allocation of supervisors for the preparation of the master’s thesis, MBR’s fast track students can also participate in other classes according to the research topic taken. The MURP of Universitas Diponegoro already has experience, in which the MBR program in regular class just about entering the second year.
